You have an ebook but no e-reader app on this device. This free epub viewer opens a DRM-free .epub book right in your browser — cover, chapters, and table of contents — with no Kindle, no Kobo, and no install. An EPUB is really a zip of chapters, images, and styles, and this viewer unpacks it on your device and reflows each chapter for comfortable reading. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed. It reads reflowable books; it cannot open DRM-locked store books or reproduce a fixed-layout comic exactly.
How to use this epub viewer
Three quick steps — no signup, no cost.
Choose a DRM-free .epub file from your device. It unpacks in your browser.
Open the table of contents and pick a chapter, or move forward and back through the book.
Adjust the text size for comfortable reading, then keep the original file for your library.
Why an epub viewer frees your books from one app
Your book, any browser, no new device.
Read on Windows, Mac, Linux, or a Chromebook with nothing installed.
The table of contents works like a real book’s, so you jump to a chapter instead of hunting.
Text reflows to your window and text size instead of forcing a publisher’s fixed page.
The book is unpacked on your device, so your library never passes through a server.
Books that will not open here
Three cases where the viewer has to say no — and what to do instead.
DRM-protected books. Books locked with Adobe DRM or another store copy-protection scheme can only be read in their own authorised apps. A free or self-supplied EPUB without that lock opens normally.
Kindle-only formats. Amazon’s AZW3 and KFX files are not EPUBs. Convert such a book to EPUB first (where you have the right to do so), then open the EPUB here.
Fixed-layout comics and picture books. A reflowable viewer reshapes text to fit the screen, so a book whose layout is the artwork itself may not display as its publisher intended. For those, the publisher’s own app is the faithful choice.
